I am use to using really expensive concealer, so when I tried this I was a bit skeptical.
To my amazment I loved it. It really brightened under my eyes and it was easy to use. I will be putting this in my "makeup bag". I would suggest everyone try this, before you commit to spending $40.00 on a concealer.
Ben Nye Yellow powder is to die for. It is really yellow and I have no yellow under tones (I am white as you can get) I found mixing this with some loose powder it worked wonders for me. It really hides any darkness that you may have under your eyes. While using this I stopped using any other kind of powder on my face. I just out some loosely under my eyes and then brush away when I am done doing my eye makeup. My eyes look more open and I never look tired. Good buy. You need to buy this online at bennye.com
I put this on over my eye concealer.
I will try and do a video to demonstrate on how to use it correctly.
All of these pictures are beautiful to me. It does not look like any of these women have had any work done, what you see is what you get, which to me is beautiful!
There are some things that you need to remember when doing makeup for "mature" faces. I will make a list of do's and don'ts, if you are doing any of the don'ts please consider changing your routine.
Don'ts:
~Cream eyeshadows
~Multiple eyeshadows
~shimmer eyeshadows
~Heavy Liquid Foundation
~Lipliner
~eyebrow pencil
~cream blush
~dark lipsticks
~liquid eyeliner
The reason you don't want to use these is because the cream and shimmer will settle in any wrinkles, it will actually make you look older.
Do's
~ Use a primer on your face before foundation and after moisturizer (smash box has the best primer) Why primer? It will help
your makeup from seeping into fine lines.
~ Consider using one color of eyeshadow, if you have heavy wrinkles on your eyes, and make sure it is matte.
~ try not to use a heavy foundation. Try a sheer foundation or a tinted moisturizer. Unsure of color? Get one shade darker
than your normal skin color, this will help to make you not look pale and sick.
~ Concealer, use it! It will cover up any dark spots or uneven color of skin. Use after foundation.
~ light color lipstick (again will help not to draw attention to fine lines)
~ Use a matte eyeshadow for your brows, one that is just a bit darker than your normal color of brows.
(look at my older post on eyebrows and it will tell you how to use eyeshadow for brows)
~ natural looking blush, one that has more than one color.
(physicians formula has the best, which you can get at any drugstore)
~ Try not to use any eyeliner, once your eyesight gets a little bad, it is hard to make a straight line.
~ MOISTURIZE! One of the best products that you can use is Olay. It has been proven to have the best regenerist formula
One thing I have learned is, it is not your fine lines or wrinkles that make you look older, it is the unevenness of your skin.
Most important, love who you are and where you are at this time of your life! Lines and wrinkles tell a story about you, remember that.
~ One thing that can and should become your friend is a beauty blender, this will make your face looking even and flawless! You can get this at any drug store
I just got an email from the photographer that I did the Valentines Shoot with and she informed me that there were quite a few blogs fighting over who could show the shoot first. Green Wedding Shoes blogged the shoot first. Please go to this awesome blog (which I never knew about, and it is awesome). Please leave a commit on their blog about the shoot. It is all very exciting.
The one thing I love about Valentines is all the fun colors. I am going to show you how to use fun colors for Valentines Day. This makeup is what I did for a photo shoot last week and it is gorgeous. If you are going out on a hot date with someone you love make sure to wear this look. The tutorial will be out on Friday.
Be looking for my photos from the photo shoot. They should be going up today.
One more video I will be doing is makeup for a mature face (yes, aunt Caroline it is going to happen).
I did my photo shot today. It is for some national blogs and websites.
The model was awesome and I had a great time..........It was so cold outside, but the pictures are going to be amazing. I will share the photos as soon as I get them.
There are so many ways to wear eye shadow. Most people find one way and stick with it forever. It may not even be the correct way to wear eye shadow.
Here is a chart of different shape eyes. Look and find your shape and try the way they tell you to wear eye shadow. You may be surprised at how your eyes will look.
Good Luck!
